Theater/Art/Music Programs offer teens dynamic programs of
theater, art and music classes with an opportunity for an active
schedule of outdoor activities and sports. Theater/Arts/music
program participants can develop their skills at their own pace
with the support off professional artists and teachers. The art
classes include instruction in visual arts, photography, video,
recording arts, pottery, fine arts, fabric arts, sculpture,
glass blowing, woodworking, metal working, batik, cartooning,
drawing, jewelry, glass works, enameling, and ceramics. Teens
learn to critique their work, learn the language and develop the
vocabulary and ability to discuss the elements of art. They have
the ability to exhibit and share their work with fellow campers
and staff, and to participate in creating group projects. Music
programs offer teens of all levels the opportunity to play in
bands, orchestras, jazz bands, choruses, rock bands, chamber
music and combos and to perform instrumental and vocal solos.
Classes can focus on specific styles such as opera, jazz, rock
and popular music. There are classes in theory, conducting,
sight-reading, music history and appreciation, song writing and
study in composition. Most traditional programs offer teens the
opportunity to perform in plays and work behind the scenes on
lighting and scenery. Specialty theatre programs offer the
student the opportunity to concentrate on theatre techniques,
performance and stage management. Theatre Programs focus on
acting, voice, design, dance, play writing, acting for camera,
Shakespearean acting, movement and improvisation. Theatre
programs have workshops in comedy, diction, physical humor, line
interpretation, rhythm and timing, movement and stage combat.
